Superhuman Review: Is the $30/Month Email App Worth It?
Superhuman built its reputation as the fastest email experience in the world — a premium app for people who spend hours in their inbox every day. It's now part of a broader company that also owns Grammarly, and its paid plans include more AI features than ever. But at a price far above most email tools, Superhuman has to deliver real time savings to make sense.
What Superhuman costs
At the time of writing (October 2026), multiple 2026 pricing guides list Superhuman Mail's plans as:
- Starter: $30 per month, or about $25 per month billed annually.
- Business: $40 per month, or about $33 per month billed annually, with additional AI features and CRM integrations.
- Enterprise: custom pricing with advanced security and admin controls.
There's no free plan for Superhuman Mail. Pricing has changed recently as the company reorganized its products, so confirm the current plans on Superhuman's official website before buying.
What Superhuman actually does
Superhuman is an email client that works on top of Gmail and Outlook accounts. Its main features include:
- Keyboard-first design. Almost every action can be done with shortcuts, making triage extremely fast once you learn them.
- Split inbox. Emails are automatically separated into categories such as important messages, team emails, and notifications.
- Snooze and reminders. You can hide emails until a specific time and get reminded if someone doesn't reply.
- Read statuses and scheduling. You can schedule emails for later and, depending on settings, see when messages are opened.
- AI writing and search. Superhuman's AI can help draft replies, summarize threads, and search your inbox with natural language. Higher plans add features such as automatic drafts and custom auto-labeling.
Where it actually saves time
Speed adds up. If you process hundreds of emails a day, saving a second or two on each action becomes meaningful. Superhuman's keyboard shortcuts and fast interface are designed for that kind of volume.
Less inbox anxiety. The split inbox separates what needs your attention from what doesn't. Instead of scanning every message, you can focus on the categories that matter.
Faster replies. AI-assisted drafting helps with routine responses, scheduling replies, and follow-ups. You still need to review the output, but you're editing instead of starting from scratch.
Follow-up tracking. Reminders for unanswered emails reduce the number of conversations that quietly die because nobody followed up.
Where it's less impressive
The price. At $25 to $30 per month for the entry plan, Superhuman costs more than many all-in-one AI assistants. For people who receive a moderate amount of email, the savings may not justify it.
Gmail and Outlook have caught up. Many features that made Superhuman special years ago — snooze, scheduled send, smart categories, AI summaries — are now available in Gmail and Outlook, sometimes for free or through AI add-ons.
Learning curve. To get the full benefit, you need to learn the keyboard shortcuts. If you prefer using a mouse, much of the speed advantage disappears.
Limited account support. Superhuman works with Gmail and Outlook accounts. If you use another email provider, you may not be able to use it.
Who it's actually worth it for
Superhuman is a strong fit if you:
- Spend at least one to two hours a day in email.
- Handle high email volume, such as founders, executives, salespeople, or investors.
- Like keyboard shortcuts and fast workflows.
- Want AI help drafting and organizing email in one polished app.
It's probably not worth it if you get a manageable number of emails, already use AI features in Gmail or Outlook, or prefer not to learn a new workflow.
A cheaper path to test first
Before paying, try improving your existing email setup. Turn on keyboard shortcuts in Gmail, use filters and labels, schedule two or three focused email sessions per day, and test the AI features available in your current plan. If you still feel your inbox controls your day, Superhuman's speed and AI features may be worth the investment.
Bottom line
Superhuman remains one of the fastest and most polished ways to handle email, and its AI features make high-volume inboxes more manageable. But its price is hard to justify unless email is a major part of your workday. For heavy email users, it can save hours each week. For everyone else, Gmail or Outlook with better habits will likely be enough.
